MEET THE FOUNDERS

Tokunbo Adesanya

Omodele Adetokunbo Adesanya (Coach Tokunbo) was born and raised in Oakland, CA and began playing basketball in middle school for Redwood Day School. At first, he had a very low skill set yet, due to his size for his age he was gifted with the ability to jump fairly high and run very fast. He grew to love the sport due to his natural ability to learn the game and dominate within his early years of playing competitively. In high school, he attended St. Mary's College High School where he was privileged enough to earn a role on the varsity team during his junior year of high school. That same school year in 2007-2008, he was part of a dominating, near-undefeated team, and participated in a CIF state championship that year against Jrue Holiday & Campbell Hall High School out of Los Angeles, CA.

As he transitioned to Morehouse College, he then participated on the school team during his first year as a walk-on. Later, he took more interest in playing intramural basketball instead for the rest of his college years as he began his coaching practice with youth basketball. His educational experience consists of a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Morehouse College and he recently earned his Masters of Sport Management at the University of San Francisco. He is known to be a hard, but fair teacher of the game. His mindset is to breed and influence a culture of high-level engagement in leadership and development to his clients: mentally, physically, emotionally, and holistically.

He has volunteered to coach for his church team, Allen Temple Baptist Church (ATBC), as they participated in the Oakland Neighborhood Basketball Summer League (ONBL). During the Summer of 2014, he successfully coached his high school boys team to the ONBL Championship; which was a notable hallmark in ATBC’s sport ministry history. He has had the experience of coaching boys and girls under nine years old at the Jewish Community Center, and trained youth middle school-aged athletes over the past few summers while improving their strength and conditioning skills. He has completed all of this while working as a physical education instructor for MetWest High School, Redwood Day School and Sankofa United Elementary School. During that time, he also coached varsity high school boys basketball for Oakland Military Institute during the 2018-2019 school season, where they were league champions.

As a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco from the Sport Management Masters program, Coach Tokunbo gained invaluable knowledge and information about the business of professional sports. He gained the opportunity to meet multiple sport professionals in the industry, and had the opportunity to intern for the Golden State Warriors Academy. He served as a youth Coach under the program for a year and assisted with running the basketball camps. Coaching young ballers became a passion of his. Hence, this sparked his own interest to train clients on his own and build his own business around this style of coaching and serving the youth. Coach Tokunbo has pursued this venture since the summer of 2019, and is now in position to be a major impact to the private sports coaching sector of the basketball industry.

Tahir Dossett

Tahir Dossett (Coach T) was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. He played varsity basketball for Brentwood Highschool. Due to a multitude of reasons, (family, Coaches, and personal accountability) Tahir never scratched his potential as a player throughout High School.

Coach Tahir graduated with a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on business and developmental sociology from Cornell University. Prior to his freshman year, his parents stressed the importance of academics. His mother and father did not want him to squander an opportunity to attend an Ivy League school. Though Coach Tahir was passionate about learning and playing the game of basketball, he prioritized academics over athletics. Due to his workload and the basketball team’s walk on policy, the opportunity to pursue a roster position on the varsity team never came into fruition.

After graduating, Coach Tahir began to lose faith in pursuing a career as a basketball player. He moved back to the west coast and started a career working with various non-profits. In the back of his head, he couldn’t shake his unwavering love for the game. At the beginning of 2014, Coach Tahir reached out to EV Hoops, a NBA scouting organization out of Philadelphia. Coach Tahir was able to connect with Elan Vinokurov, current scout for the Los Angeles Lakers, who provided an opportunity to learn the game from a new perspective. That moment was the catalyst for Coach Tahir to reignite his professional basketball pursuits.

Instead of dedicating time to pushing his own personal development, he redirected his energy to helping the next generation of basketball players. Throughout the duration of the next six years, Coach Tahir has coached two Club One AAU teams, interned as a collegiate and NBA scout, played an instrumental role in coaching youth at the Hilltop Richmond YMCA, worked as a Sports Coordinator for EM Downer YMCA, facilitated sports as the Athletic Director of Helms Middle School, and became a trainer at Hoopsphere Academy (basketball training complex in Fremont).

All of his experience working with a wide range of athletes in various capacities has contributed to his industry knowledge. He is now poised to take his experience and use it to ensure B2T has the greatest impact for athletes in need.
